This teaching case narrates the path taken by Rodrigo, owner of Zeta, to place on the market the most daring project that has so far been conceived, the pumping unit. A born inventor, Rodrigo was seen over the years with many ideas, but few opportunities to put them into practice or make them profitable. The teaching case data were obtained through semi-structured interviews and document analysis. From this case, it is expected that students of management courses and entrepreneurs to understand how they can get support and create bases to turn an invention into innovation. In order to preserve the company and the manager, this educational event uses the fictitious name "Zeta" to refer to the company, and the name "Rodrigo" to refer to the manager. All other information is real.
