Este trabalho tem o objetivo de identificar as estratégias de marcas próprias (MP) adotadas por três fornecedores de pequeno porte, bem como o seu poder de negociação frente à rede varejista. Os conceitos de marca própria, fornecimento de marca própria e estratégias de marca própria foram aprofundados no intuito de subsidiar as análises realizadas. A pesquisa tem natureza exploratória e foi realizada por meio de dois métodos de investigação: o bibliométrico e o estudo de casos múltiplos. O primeiro método utilizou a plataforma de buscas do Portal de Periódicos Capes/Mec para identificar a produção sobre o assunto nos últimos 10 anos. O segundo método aprofundou as estratégias dos pequenos fornecedores de MP e o seu poder de negociação, através da realização de entrevistas em profundidade. Os resultados apresentam diferentes estratégias adotadas, de acordo com o percentual de faturamento com PM de cada fornecedor, bem como fatores que atribuem poder nas negociações, tanto aos fabricantes quanto ao varejista.
