¿Dónde surgen las oportunidades internacionales? ¿De dónde viene y hacia dónde va la literatura?

Resumen

Propósito / Objetivo: Este artículo tiene como objetivo realizar un estudio bibliométrico con el fin de analizar cómo la literatura sobre oportunidades internacionales ha abordado las cuestiones que rodean su identificación y origen. Método: Se elaboró una matriz considerando dos aspectos fundamentales en las discusiones sobre el tema: (1) cómo se identifican: se crean o se descubren las oportunidades internacionales; y (2) el origen de la oportunidad internacional: interna o externa. Luego, se realizó un estudio bibliométrico, con una adaptación de los pasos propuestos por Ellegaard y Wallin (2015). Los artículos seleccionados fueron clasificados en la matriz propuesta. Originalidad / Relevancia: Este artículo innova al desarrollar una herramienta analítica que permite, a través del estudio bibliométrico, la percepción de cómo la literatura sobre oportunidades internacionales se ha enfocado en algunos aspectos y descuidado otros que podrían ser complementarios en el análisis, brindando una comprensión más integral de los fenómenos y más cerca de la realidad. Resultados: La literatura se ha centrado en oportunidades descubiertas por una fuente interna de la empresa, como la capacidad de los gerentes para identificar oportunidades internacionales; y desatendió las oportunidades creadas, principalmente por una fuente interna, como en los procesos de realización. Aportes teórico / metodológicos: Los aportes de este estudio residen, por tanto, en el desarrollo de una matriz que represente, de manera sencilla y objetiva, el núcleo de las discusiones en el área, lo que implica el origen e identificación de oportunidades internacionales. Además, el estudio bibliométrico indica los caminos que han tomado los estudiosos del área, además de permitir discutir posibles temas para futuros estudios.
