Let's Go Shopping: Good Neighbor Makes the Difference

The teaching case presents the trajectory of the Pinheiro brothers and their 36-years business in the branch of supermarket chain. It deals with the transition period experienced by them, about the expansion of new branches with innovations from convenience stores, park, playground and cinemas. In this case, it is possible to identify aspects that refer to the development of an entrepreneurial process, elaboration of a deliberate strategy based on emergent strategy, strategic management and organizational change to meet the demands of new markets such as the idealization of shopping. It is also possible to see that the development of an expansion plan for the supermarket chain is something feasible and attractive for a small company, if it acts with strategic focus and commitment to carry it out, even with adjustments.
